Role: Lead Product Designer
Goal: Deliver the most requested feature — player statistics — balancing value for Free users while creating clear differentiation for Premium. The challenge was to make dense performance data readable, explorable, and actionable on mobile without overwhelming users.
Golf app users frequently requested detailed performance statistics: scores, putts, penalties, GIR (greens in regulation), club distances, and more.
Constraints:
Design Challenge:
Create a clean, intuitive Statistics section that:
Surfaces key performance trends
Encourages exploration (interactive parts)
Supports monetization (Premium content)
User interviews & surveys: Users want trend visualization (progress over rounds), easy comparison between clubs
Support requests: Over 20% of users asked for a feature to track rounds in detail.
Business perspective: Gamification (badges, records, friend comparisons) was considered but postponed to avoid bloating MVP.
Decision: Break Statistics into tabs: Scoring | Details | Clubs | Fitness
Within each tab, blocks present stats. Trend blocks are interactive and open Details Panels (drill-down insights without losing screen context).

Stepwise Implementation
Rationale: Reduce cognitive load, prioritize core value first, then introduce monetization features.
